Sliabh Liag Distillers
An Dúlamán Santa Ana Armada Strength Gin
From Donegal, Ireland, Sliabh Liag creates authentic gins using the resources around them, one of them being the sea. There is a high level of care that goes into every aspect of their products making very special and unique gins with a rich history behind every bottle.
Production: Named after one of the ships lost to the sea just off the coast of Donegal from the Spanish Armada, the An Dúlamán Armada Strength is the first Navy Strength gin to come out of Ireland thanks to Sliabh Liag Distillers. Not only is this a higher-alcohol gin but it's also barrel-aged in Rioja wine casks for 12 weeks at 64% ABV. Once the barrel ageing process is done, the gin drops down to 57% ABV making it a Navy Strength gin.
Tasting Notes: The front of the palate comes through as a typical gin with the juniper leading in flavour accommodated later by the softer botanicals with the barrel ageing flavours. There is a sweetness and slight fruitiness that comes through from the flavour of the casks with a warm orange finish from the spicy botanicals. This gin is best enjoyed neat or on the rocks letting the gin speak for itself.
