House of Wine
Organic Estate Sparkling, Oxney Estate, England - Vegan
The quality of English sparkling wine has seen spectacular development over the last couple of decades and the best examples rival many of their more famous counterparts across the channel in Champagne. Oxney Estate is up there with the best we've tasted. Made using the traditional method, with traditional grapes (with a little Seyval Blanc included), and very much 'Brut' in style you'd be easily fooled into thinking this had more famous origins than East Sussex. A classic green apple character is highlighted by yeast and toast notes as well as aspects of fresh pear, yet it's impeccably smooth with a very sophisticated finish. Most drink this on its own – and delicious it is – but we like it with fish and chips or a cheese platter!
