The Ginstitute

Gin is the spirit of London so what better way to get into the spirit than by making your very own personal blend of craft gin? On the iconic Portobello Road, you’ll find The Distillery, a four-story emporium for the discerning drinker and home to The Ginstitute. Learn about the history of gin, how it is made and of course, make your own special blend to take home.

Books for Cooks

Not only is Books for Cooks home to thousands of eclectic cookbooks to browse and buy but they also have a café that cooks recipes from the books. A new, limited menu each day, keep an eye on their twitter (@Booksforcooks) for the day’s menu. Be aware that they will only be open on Saturday 20th April, you can’t pre-book a table and this great concept is a big hit with locals and tourists alike, so be prepared to queue.

Electric Cinema

One of London’s oldest cinemas, The Electric Cinema is a Portobello Road institution. Steeped in as much luxury as history, enjoy films in the comfort of luxe armchairs, sofas and even, beds. Certainly not your average cinema experience, you can enjoy cocktails in front of a special viewing of Mont Python’s ‘Life of Brian’ to celebrate its 40th anniversary, this Easter weekend.

Graffik Gallery

In an area known for its street art, Graffik is a prime destination for urban art where you can see the likes of Banksy originals alongside up and coming artists. If you fancy having a go at your own street art, they hold graffiti workshops at weekends where you’re taught by artists and get to take your masterpiece home.
